Overview
Our watch faces and this website collect almost nothing. Your health and activity data never leave your watch. The only exceptions: a one-time anonymous install count, and an approximate location if you choose MET Norway as the weather source. We do not sell or share personal data. This website sets no cookies.
Our watch faces
The watch face reads data your Garmin watch already holds, such as steps, heart rate, sleep or body battery, only to show it on the screen. It stays on the watch. Your settings are stored on the watch and, if you change them in the Connect IQ Store app, by Garmin.
Optional weather from MET Norway
The default weather source is Garmin, and then no request reaches our server. If you choose MET Norway, the watch face sends, at most once an hour, your location rounded to about 5 km and your time zone offset to our weather relay, which returns the forecast. No name, account, identifier or health data is sent, and the relay logs and stores nothing. MET Norway sees only our relay, never you. Weather data: MET Norway, CC BY 4.0.
Anonymous install count
Once, after the first start, the watch face sends a random number generated on the watch and a flag saying whether it is a beta version. Nothing else: no name, email, Garmin account, serial number, location or health data. We keep the number and the day it arrived, only to count downloads per day. After our server confirms it, the watch never sends it again.
This website
A static site with no cookies, analytics, tracking scripts, accounts or forms. Our hosting provider, Netlify, processes IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
Third parties
No advertising or analytics SDKs. Our weather relay and install count run on our own server, hosted by Netlify. We have no access to your Garmin account. Purchases, payments and reviews go through the Garmin Connect IQ Store under Garmin's privacy policy; we never see your payment details.
Legal basis and your rights
We process the little data above on the basis of our legitimate interest in running the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or to provide a feature you switched on (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You can ask us for access to your data, its correction or deletion, or object to its use; since we hold nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing to hand over. You can also complain to a data protection authority; WatchFace Works is based in Poland, where it is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Children
We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
